There are many scenarios in this game when you might want to move between far-placed rooms. Your active items restore their charge on completing rooms. An arcade might be your source of cash that you then want to spend in a shop on the other end of the map. You want to get to the boss challenge room but the only blood donation machine is in a secret room rather far from here.

Another Land Grab? Israel Intensifies Bombardment of Lebanon & Orders Mass Displacement in the South (znetwork.org)

It is the seventh day of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, and Israel is escalating attacks on Lebanon after ordering the entire population of southern Lebanon to flee. This comes as Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened to turn areas of Lebanon into another Gaza in a video shared on social media Thursday. “The word on everyone’s mouths here is ethnic cleansing,” says Lylla Younes, an investigative journalist speaking with Democracy Now! from Beirut. “People are basically fleeing north with nowhere to go. Shelters are filling up rapidly. People are sleeping on the pavement in the winter nights.”

Police officers are thought to have arrested Indigenous people, usually male, for supposed drunkenness and/or disorderly behaviour, but sometimes without cause.[4] The officers would then allegedly drive them to the outskirts of the city at night and there abandon them in sub-zero temperatures.[5] At least seven such incidents have been claimed—three of which resulted in deaths—although there was only one case in which police officers were convicted of any wrongdoing. Four such incidents allegedly occurred between 1990 and 2000. A false report was made of such an incident around 2015, and another similar incident was claimed in 2018. Among all of these alleged incidents, only one conviction of police officers occurred, resulting in two officers going to prison for eight months.[4]

After his crash killed a child, the DMV renewed his license – then it hid his records (calmatters.org)

When the issue finally made it to court this year, the attorney representing the agency made a shocking admission: The DMV had no records of any investigation into a longtime reckless driver who killed a 23-month-old boy. The agency didn’t even appear to have held a hearing before deciding it was fine to let Linardos stay on the road.

Context: in classical Greece, Sparta built a hegemony based on its military power that was formed around a core of professional hoplites, which was rare at the time as most military campaigns were fought by part time soldiers who were mainly farmers, handymen, etc. This hegemony was broken when in Thebes the Sacred Band of Thebes was formed, consisting of 150 gay couples who became professional soldiers, too. These 300 (coincidence? Idk, but I find it funny) elite warriors were instrumental in two major defeats an outnumbered thebian army handed to Spartans who encountered another professional military for the first time. The Sacred Band being made up of gay couples was intentional, as the idea behind it was that men would fight harder for and with other men they had a strong bond with and there was no stronger bond than love.

While public life in the US seemed to slowly return to normal after the pandemic and Joe Biden’s election, the political upheaval in Shasta county was only just beginning. Since an ultra-conservative majority gained power, it has battled the state over Covid and second amendment policies and attempted to do away with voting machines and replace them with a system based on hand-counting paper ballots. Officials here have promoted misinformation about vaccines and elections, hired an election skeptic to serve as the county’s top voting official and appointed a local hydroponics store owner, who was also a conservative activist, to a county board overseeing mosquito control, rather than an epidemiologist and former public health director.
