"It seems promising out here." (a Simon Stålenhag collection)

Stålenhag’s a Swedish bloke who’s created a load of charming, impressive story scenarios and scene re-creations across prehistoric, sci-fi, and post-apoc settings. In terms of his art, he has a real knack for bringing things to life almost in a photographic sense, yet pulling back from that just enough to add a touch of cartoony fun. :D

Notably, he’s published a GN called "The Electric State", and created an Amazon SF series called "Tales from the Loop".

Here’s a gorgeous collection of his prehistoric art:

And one I posted at our old, defunct host Lemm.ee a while back:

"No no, the car works just fine. I’m telling you I’ll BE there!!"

For image 1. I like how each landscape feature has parallel lines throughout the image. The mountain lines, the sand lines, the grass lines. Creates very clear separation bw them which is very typical of modern graphic novels/ anime etc.

Huh, interesting!
*Phew* mon, by all accounts, you seem to have an amazing eye for art.

Also, an incredible motor and range of taste. Me, as a tired, middle-aged, occasional artist and lifelong appreciator of the fine arts, you keep blowing me away with all your amazing findings and sharings…!

Oh no no lol. It’s only when I’m observing a lot of art when my eye gets a lil sharp.

But thanks. I do appreciate the compliment.

Oh wow I did not know he created prehistoric art as well! Incredible

Do you have any favorites from that Imgur collection? I’m still blown away by what a treasure trove it is.

I really like this one. I don’t even know what that thing is, but the light and colors are amazing!

The one perched on the slanted red rock? I’m thinking that would be Dimetrodon, or a relative. (I remembered it by sight, but had to search for its name)

But yeah, what an amazing job Stålenhag did, coming up with those colors. Really brings it to life in a way prior depictions didn’t come close to, IMO.
