These have so many tiny panels (60 per page!) that I had to break them in to two-parters, adding arrows to the top halves, both things done to help read along.

They’re from Lewis Trondheim’s Mister O wordless humor book of little nothings. (not to be confused with another, far more significant series he did, i.e. “Les petits riens” / “Little Nothings” about the many funny, odd, passing moments across his life)

Yup, these are just some silly bonbons and ‘palette cleansers’ of his, although I think they also nicely capture Trondheims’ ever-present whimsical style, offbeat humor and preference for simpler representation where possible.

A couple years later, he followed this one with another called “Mister I,” which is much more wide-ranging in nature, and even gory. Indeed, it reminded me a good bit of Midram’s crazy Game Over series, in which a young knight keeps trying to rescue a damsel in distress, with typically disastrous results. [SAMPLES]

Hmm. Back on Lemm.ee I’d shared a post with nine of those full-page “Game Over” cartoons, but looks like it’s one of those few that didn’t make it over with the move. I’ll see about re-posting if I can find the source images. Okay, ciao, folks!
