I don't disagree, I will choose vanilla over chocolate any day. But the "fancy names" they use are just a substitute for vanilla.
Cream Soda used to have egg as an ingredient to make it 'creamy' tasting, but now it's just vanilla.
There was a time when Aldi's brand carried a cream soda can 12-pack and it was amazing. I've had others that are good but none that have topped that one.
So when someone says something has a chemical taste, you have no idea what that could mean because you assume they're referring to every single substance on earth?
I'll go the other way, cream soda (the green stuff) is revolting. I like creamy soda (brown stuff), I accidentally bought some of the green cream soda sodastream flavour and it was disgusting.
Dumped the rest in my work kitchen where some psycopath has been finishing it. Power to them I guess.
Jones is decent - it’s a clear version
The one I like most that’s accessible is IBC Cream Soda
Maine Root also makes a delicious one that you can find in some dispensers.
Bruv, real talk. Faygo has entirely won me over. I had their root beer, it's the tits. Every soda I've tried from them is on par with what it's supposed to be, but they're still like a third the price. Great shit.
Virgil’s is the best. Boylan’s is pretty good, a bit too sweet. Dr. Browns is very interesting. Marshmallow-y? Jones cream soda is middling. I’m missing a few other good ones. Don’t do A&W or anything with corn syrup, imo.
I can't not take that bait... Gorham's disease... yeah that looks pretty awful.
Fun fact though: your bones are already soggy. Bones are super vascular, and marrow is where most of your blood is made. We think of bones as being these dry, white, brittle things, but those are just bones of some corpse that have long since dried up. Living bones are juicy.
How does one consume a float? Are you supposed to wait for the ice cream to melt and then drink it? Or do you have to rush to finish it before it becomes homogenous?
I tend to do start nomming on it as soon as it's prepared before it's all mingled, but don't rush it. As I get to the end, the last quarter-glass or so it melted and homogenous. Gets the best of both worlds.
We just bought a box of Bawls energy drinks (still around!) and I swear it's just like cream soda
Oh man, I had forgotten about Bawls! Easily the best energy drink!
I'm going to have to track down a case now...
I used to buy it from ThinkGeek or at Frys. Alas both have gone to
Skymallwhatever heaven is for retailers.Microcenter has it.
The only qualified cream soda that actually tastes good and is carbonated enough is Pakola
Everything else is a sugar scam
You can also make your own with vanilla ice cream and a regular soda like Fanta lol.
Thats just a float bro
Pakola is only available in Pakistan it seems. That would be like me naming a drink "Americola" and that's not a bad idea.
Actually most exports are to the US, you just need to go to an Asian store to get it lol.
Americola sounds pretty nice too haha
What is cream soda. It doesn’t taste creamy at all.
How are you going to ask me what it is and then immediately tell me attributes it has in the next sentence?
I like the flavor, but every one I've tried has been entirely too sweet.
The flavors of cream soda, birthday cake, sugar cookie, are just vanilla.
And?????
And... you should pop open a refreshing Cream Soda.
Vanilla is a wonderful, rich flavor, thank you very much =)

Hear hearWait, I thought you said overrated.
I actually disagree, it's overly sweet and tastes like chemicals
Everything tastes like chemicals. Everything is chemicals.
So when someone says something has a chemical taste, you have no idea what that could mean because you assume they're referring to every single substance on earth?
Don't be ridiculous... it isn't limited to just Earth!

What I wanted: https://www.coles.com.au/product/schweppes-traditional-brown-creaming-soda-soft-drink-bottle-1.1l-3270180
What I got: https://sodastream.com.au/products/cream-soda
Yeah, Schweppes fucks. I didn't realize they made it in Australia too.
Who knows if its even the same thing though...
It's a pretty similar color. Maybe we should ship a bottle to each other and compare.
I'm guessing that results in 2 empty bottles and a lot of sticky postmen, but sure, if you really want to try that :D
I'm failing to see the downside here.
Sometimes I see a blue cream soda flavor that tastes like bubblegum. Or maybe it's supposed to taste like Blue Moon snack cakes.
Green? Brown? Where I'm at it's either transparent or milky/white. Why would that stuff be colored?
Yeah, there is also pink here (Australia). I'm beginning to think this might not be easy to compare directly...
In any case, brown and pink are good, green is gross.
I'm mostly familiar with piss colored cream soda.
Okay, I think you need to see a doctor. You might have blood, or candy in your urine.
A&w cream soda and Jones are both piss gold. I'm not aware of any other cream sodas.
How is a drink that has been popular for generations "underrated"?
Can't people just say they like something?
Nothing that I typed gives the appearance that I'm unrelaxed
Lots of people, plus it's available at damn near every store I've ever shopped at. It's not slept on, and people aren't hating on it.
I apologize for using words that set you off. In the future I will try to avoid using words that you don't enjoy. I will also avoid you in general.
Nothing set me off. Troll harder lol
I think it's kind of an old person drink, like root beer and ginger ale.
I've seen lots of teenagers and young adults drinking both of those, you're living in an illusion 😂
Yeah, maybe so. To me, it's stuff my parents drank as kids.
I don't drink it often, but when that craving hits....
Never had it, is there a particular brand I should try/is readily available in US shops?
As a cream soda enthusiast, if you can find Sprecher, it's the best I've had. Their root beer is pretty meh though.
Jones is decent - it’s a clear version

Sounds like I'm doing a taste test of cream sodas!
Faygo

Hell yeah. I used to drive by the factory everyday on the way to work. Rock'n'Rye, Orange, Grape, Moon Mist, Cream Soda, Red Pop. It's all good.
Virgil’s is the best. Boylan’s is pretty good, a bit too sweet. Dr. Browns is very interesting. Marshmallow-y? Jones cream soda is middling. I’m missing a few other good ones. Don’t do A&W or anything with corn syrup, imo.
Make it into a float if you really dgaf about your health. Kinda redundant, but deliciously so.
A float everyone once in a while won't kill you.
I mean, even if it does, there are worse ways to go.
Yeah, like soggy bone syndrome.
I can't not take that bait... Gorham's disease... yeah that looks pretty awful.

Juicy Bones is my new rapper name.
I'll be your first subscriber!!

best soda, tbh
Liquid diabetes you mean? That stuff is so sweet it makes my teeth ache worse than coke.
Wrong-o!!
root beer>cream soda
I'm not sure anyone here would debate that. Cream soda is underrated. It's good, but it's not top tier like Root Beer.
Hmm. Gross.
Say that to my face.
Its alright but was never big on it but your post made me look up original recipes for it and now I want to go do that.
Cream soda, plus banana vodka, plus blue Curaçao, equals a bubblegum cocktail.
I think it's weird as fuck and not necessarily a thing anyone would actually want, but those three flavors together really do make bubblegum.
