Two CBP Agents Identified in Alex Pretti Shooting
www.propublica.org/article/alex-pretti-shooting…
The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.
The records viewed by ProPublica list Ochoa, 43, and Gutierrez, 35, as the shooters during the deadly encounter last weekend that left Pretti dead and ignited massive protests and calls for criminal investigations.
Both men were assigned to Operation Metro Surge, an immigration enforcement dragnet launched in December that sent scores of armed and masked agents across the city.
CBP, which employs both men, has so far refused to release their names and has disclosed few other facts about the deadly incident, which came days after a different immigration agent shot and killed another Minneapolis protester, a 37-year-old mother of three named Renee Good.

Both from south Texas. Both long time employees, not newbies.
Make sure the state charges them so they can’t be pardoned. Start throwing these thugs in prison
Wasn’t there like, 10 dudes that shot him? And they only named the brown people.
I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.
These guys were career CBP, NOT new hires. That means ALL CBP is trained and held accountable to the same level as them, and has been for over a decade.
I do think it’s super important to point this out. This wasn’t a greenhorn or a training failure. This was done by people who have been in there for a long time. This speaks to the caliber and type of person ICE and CBP have been hiring for years.
I mean I figured it was the case that whoever shot him wasn’t just some rookie, but DHS was even attempting to leak to the press this was just a big whoopsie on account of the new guys being inexperienced, unprofessional, and startled easily.
I still don’t buy this wasn’t intentional. Nobody puts 10 bullets (in 2 separate rounds of firing) in somebody who’s already been disarmed and incapacitated by accident. Even for Border Patrol that was excessive. Definitely not the first time they’ve encountered protestors, but the first time a “border czar” happened to be waiting in the wings with the promise this could all be over so quickly if local police would just start rounding people up and handing them over to DHS so that “ICE and Border Patrol could stop putting themselves in danger.”
I’ve seen enough bad cop videos of situations escalating out of control for this not to be a surprise. Our military is trained better at de-escalation tactics than our domestic forces.
It’s probably not a training issue, it really is a culture and accountability matter. Certainly the training isn’t going to give any real effort to trivialities like “Constitutional rights” and “Due Process,” but that’s not the root of the problem. They’re not blatantly violating constitutional rights because they don’t know any better. They’re doing it because they don’t care and they KNOW , rightly or wrongly, that the worst any of them will face for it is a slap on the wrist and a veil from the public eye. They know that in all probability their superiors will be mad about the OPTICS of murdering someone in the street, they’ll be mad that they got CAUGHT executing someone in cold blood, not that it happened in the first place.
This culture of iron fisted brutality is exactly the sort of thing anyone who could be described as “Career CBP,” especially given recent events, would embrace as a loosening of restraint rather than the abject amoral, unconstitutional abuse that it is.
They’re doing it because they don’t care and they KNOW , rightly or wrongly, that the worst any of them will face for it is a slap on the wrist and a veil from the public eye.
And why wouldn’t they think that? That’s because our cowardly elected officials, mostly Democrats, have been too cowardly and weak to do what every decent, moral American was demanding, and punish MAGA for their sedition and treason, and all their other crimes.
When we take this nation back (and we WILL take it back), it will be imperative to harshly punish every single one of them, for every single crime they committed. We can’t shy away from long sentences, or even death penalties, where they’ve been earned.
That’s only the first step that our government will be absolutely required to do to fully redeem itself in the eyes of our Citizens, our Nation, the World, and History, and discourage future Traitors from trying it again.
This along with things like border patrol operations covering 100 miles inland from every border needed to be fixed years ago IMO.
When you WANT to kill a few people, and send a message and intimidate your enemy, you give the orders to veteran professionals, not some still damp noob, who might freeze up or shoot himself. You want it to be someone you can count on.
Stephen “PeeWee Himmler” Miller thought that a little of the old untra-violence would scare citizens into their houses, but unfortunately for him, Americans don’t intimidate easily. He views everything from a Nazi perspective, but we aren’t 1930s Germans, still recovering from a WW1 shellacking. Americans are raised on fables of revolution and thrashing the most powerful military in human history.
You kill ours, we don’t back down, we get even. We’re coming for you, PeeWee Himmler.
I hope this defines them for the rest of their lives.
With names like that aren’t they immigrants too?
The leader of the Proud Boys was hispanic.
Stephen Miller is Jewish.
Peter Thiel is gay.
Kash Patel is a tarsier.
13% of black voters voted for Trump.
This was never actually about race and culture as much as control and power. It’s just that now our society has atomized to the point that people don’t face social pressure anymore to keep up appearances and pretenses, so they just go ahead and barge into cognitive dissonance without a care in the world. We’re in the age of pandemonium.
You’re one of the good ones until you’re not. A lot more are gonna realize this at some point while this administration is at the helm.

I really thought this was one of those lessons we all learned from Saturday morning cartoons, that if you ally with the bad guys, they will likely turn on you just the same because they’re bad guys.
I feel like we were all watching very different cartoons as kids, that or there were a LOT of kids watching and booing and feeling angry and disappointed every time the turtles beat Shredder.
You’ll find there’s a sizable group of minorities in every group that will sell out to be the token.
tick tock
Honestly I somehow picture this spinning in 2 directions.
Maga’s going to find a way to claim illegal immigrants infiltrated ICE, and that’s the reason why there’s violence now… so we need more ICE to deal with Illegals.
Well, seeing that the white nationalist group the “Proud Boys” (show tunes are so manly you guyz! the Proud Boys are rock-hard macho men, unlike the liberal soy boys! There is nothing the least bit homoerotic about our little boys’ club!) was being run by Henry Tarrio, someone who is decidedly not white, things sure have gotten very weird.
Of all the various videos I’ve seen of Taco’s terrorists in Minneapolis and elsewhere, it does seem like quite a few people of color seem to be in their ranks…as a white guy, I don’t know how on Earth I’d live with myself doing that job, but I would think it would be even worse for someone that is brown or black targeting mostly brown and black people and disappearing them…
Sam L’s character in Jango kinda energy, y’know?
So these two are CBP, not ICE. CBP is much more often the people on the border searching for drugs, not the people rounding up undocumented immigrants. People of color might sign up for CBP thinking they could help lower the amount of fentanyl being smuggled in. Now, these two specific guys are clearly in it to hurt people, regardless of their skin color.
I mean look, if you’re let’s say 2nd or 3rd gen immigrant, Spanish speaking, systemically excluded from the white collar economy, it’s a good gig. Saying no to career paths is a privilege, one that I have also as a white dude 100% enjoyed.
While I can see even being an agent and enforcer… it’s possible to be a good guy in desperate situation, no different than how I can see someone might turn to a mobster or gangster that way. Hell even the “If I don’t do it, someone worse will take the job, I can at least do it with as much compasion as the job allows”.
Those excuses kind of go out the window though when they start shooting a prone, disarmed, pepper sprayed guy. I can hate the organization, and note it has horrible training. Being desperate enough to join ice is one thing… however you’d think that would lead to being as non horrible as possible in the job. As not every ice incident leads to a shooting, it’s still fair to say the ice agents that do shoot peaceful protestors are clearly the worse of the worse.
I get what you’re saying but I also hate that shit. These people made choices! And ok let’s say it was between signing up for a fascist position or being homeless, they made the choice that it’s better to cause pain to someone else before themselves. Also, we’re assuming they didn’t have other choices which is probably biased in itself. End of the day, you don’t get a pass to torture and kill others for your own survival.
They dont need your imaginary situations. I mean this in a most sincere and burtally honest, they are going to continue to do what they have planned.
I was thinking hooray for them for putting their names in the actual headline, but at least they put their names above the fold.

They are reprogrammable meat bots.
These are the people that pretended to give a rip about freedom, the Constitution, states’ rights, and claimed they were creating weapon arsenals to fight a government that has gone rogue and so on.
Many of them also recently claimed to have supported Donvict because he was going to be for “peace” and not all these wars of aggression we have done so many of.
And here we are. Predictably. They don’t really have any principles other than “fuck liberals, we want to make women and LGBTQ cry and if Taco is grifting left and right to the tune of billions, telling us we don’t really have any rights - 2nd amendment as well as the first and the fourth, while we and our children may literally go hungry and have no healthcare, that’s a good thing as long as we think the libs and non-whites and non-xtians are getting it worse.”

Something that jumped out at me: These guys had worked for CBP for ~8 and ~12 years, respectively.
These thugs, who wrestled an uninvolved bystander to the ground, then shot him in the back while he lay there helpless, were not panicky newbs. These were veteran CBP officers.
Is this just what veteran CBP officers are like?
Jonathon Ross, who murdered Renee Good, works for CBP for 10 years. Abolishing ICE isn’t enough. All of DHS needs to be uprooted.
Abolish ICE? Not good enough. Punish ICE
I read an article a few weeks ago, which pointed out that ICE does work internal to the US and is generally pretty restrained. CBP works at the border and is generally more aggressive, chasing down and subduing people who’ve crossed the border, usually in remote and hostile territory. They said that CBP could often be violent, and now those people were being released to use those same tactics against American cities.
So yes, this is exactly what some CBP officers are like.
Well, but a tail light was kicked out. Oh and some spitting happened. Obviously that requires being shot in the back multiple times by Reel Murican Heroez.
That taillight video looks like ai
Hey, so you’re not the first person I’ve seen with this view. Just curious what about the taillight video indicates to you that it is AI and not real footage. Is there anything specific you can point to, or is it just a feeling you have? Honest question, no judgement.
You’re not going to kick a taillight and have it fall out like that unless it was already broken or loose also the wiring is stupidly long. The people in the video I saw also move fucky/ unnaturally unless the video I saw was sped up for a few frames here and there. It could be a doctored video where he really did kick the car, but I doubt the taillight would just fall out like that.
It was confirmed by his parents.
What was confirmed?
That he’s in the video and video is authentic.
We’ve been trying to tell people this.
There are a couple possibilities:
You forgot an option they’ve done stuff like this before, likely to a minority or immigrant, and thought they could continue to get away with it
Or E) B,C, and D
All but the first one are likely. Patsies, maybe, but full-on fictitious? There’s no way that wouldn’t bite the Nazi admins in the collective ass. The rest? Yeah, all of the above.
I dated a CBP officer once. They only get some basic training on how to use their weapon, and some simulations and that’s it. Just some basic training to defend themselves. Not this kind of stuff.
Reminds me of The Simpsons when Homer became a juvie prison guard:

They just finally got permission to do what they always wanted i guess.
Or maybe the other times they’ve done it, it wasn’t on camera in the middle of a busy urban street.
I listened to a former director’s (or something) take and he said likely they were trained for a different kind/style of enforcement, not the crowd control style that Trump shoved them into. I wanna say that’s a weak explanation, but I don’t know how often they were raiding before Trump.

A quick read of wikipedia says ports of entry checking people and cargo, agriculture (pests, plants, animal disease), stopping weapons and narcotics smuggling, duties and taxes (import specialist, auditor, international trade specialist, and textile analyst). I’m sure there’s a shit ton of paperwork. These are not all front line SWAT people, but I’m sure Trump pushed many out. Even for front line they used to plan out raids afaik for like 5 am when the target is asleep, they weren’t out for what’s now stirring shit up and let’s call it crowd control.

Yeah, but if you’re untrained, in a high pressure situation and someone yells “GUN” you might well panic.
If you’re untrained and you’ve stood in front of a car you might well panic when someone starts it moving, especially if you’ve done a similar idiotic thing with a car recently.
Law enforcement needs training in order to not fuck up situations. If they don’t have it, this is the inevitable consequence.

I don’t think this is true information. Why would the admin be honest about this? The gun discipline isn’t of people who have practiced even a year with their weapon, for starters.
They’re painting a picture instead.
According to the article, the names were in government documents which they were able to view. There’s no indication that the information was released or intended for release. It sounds more like someone with access leaked the information to them.
It’s possible that this is a lie, but I don’t see how it helps DHS or the administration. I think it’s a lot more likely that there’s a complete lack of standards and accountability at CBP and ICE and that the problem has festered for decades. Being a 10 year veteran doesn’t mean anything if they aren’t enforcing standards and weeding out anyone who falls short.
There were many more than just 2 of these goons on the scene.
Also: those don’t sound like murican names to me. I wonder if these guys are students of history. Do they think Stephen Miller won’t eventually get to the point of having these two deported, as well? We are only a year into this shit and they are already murdering white people that show any contrarian views of the plot for mass deportation. Where do they think all this stuff leads if it is followed to its insane conclusion?
Knowing this administration, they may be giving us a red herring.
I don’t suppose Stephen Miller is impeachable? This is his direct work, at this point.
I’m unsure, but if not, I’d love to see someone find a way to arrest his dumb ass.

Yeah, Stephen Miller seems to be studiously ignoring virtually all of history on such things. You might want to jump on the leading edge and be the vanguard of something, but it seems that they get to the arresting and killing of Jews very early into the awfulness, whether it was something like the Russian revolution or the Nazi regime.
Just why Stephen Miller apparently imagines following his awful campaign would end any different this time just boggles the mind. One could easily imagine a scenario where a truly awful turd like Bannon (or that fake “doctor” Gorka, etc.) is brought in after Stephen Miller is arrested on some fake charges involving not being sufficiently loyal enough to Taco or his offspring or to James Bowman…
I’m sure some rope and a hammer will get the rest of the names
Jesus and Raymundo? Really? Traitors
It’s incredible how many ICE agents are Hispanic. But I guess Mexican cartels kill Mexicans all the time. Ukrainians and Russians are closely related. Israelis and Palestinians are mostly descendants of Abraham and Jacob. China and Taiwan are mostly ethnically Han Chinese. It’s brothers hurting brothers all over the world. Very sad.
“No one hates quite like family.”
The sad reality is they’ll probably end up making a lot of money off gofundme
I am not implying that anything will happen to them anytime soon, and as you suggest they may even profit in the short term, but I do think they might end up with a shortened lifespan eventually, or if they’re particularly lucky, just a significantly less free one.
Were these records unofficially leaked to ProPublica? That seems to be the implication.
There is only one action from here.
