Not just an ordinary flashlight: with its remarkable design inspired by an OTF pocketknife, the Nitecore EDC17 presents itself as a stylish EDC accessory. I bought this flashlight at a random tech market for the equivalent of ~$9 USD, it gets plenty bright and accepts 18650 batteries. There is no branding whatsoever or even a model number. It has a metal body as well as a magnet on the end. It has a USB-C port for charging as well as a USB-A port to act as a mini power bank.

Not many thoughts about it yet since I just got it - might post some comparison beamshots later.

Plenty of light with up to 6,000 lumens and an adjustable beam reaching up to 500 meters – the Nitecore EX7 has a lot to offer! Its four M515S LEDs, a proprietary design by Nitecore, each consist of five closely grouped light-emitting surfaces that can be controlled separately in two groups. This allows the effective LES – and thus the beam – to be adjusted as needed. Additionally, the flashlight is powered by a standard 21700 battery and features a USB-C charging port.

They put them into the lights, too. A very professional job. Unfortunately they wouldn’t do my Nitecore HA11 (AA powered) or any of my 18650 lights. They said they were trying to focus on their core competency. I had never heard of a service like this before! Highly recommended.

It’s USB-C rechargeable, super bright, about as long as my middle finger, and has multiple modes including strobe light and even SOS modes.

Content warning: this is something of a marketing pitch, but it is worth reading. It’s about using CT scans to find safety flaws in 18650 cell manufacturing. It’s put out by the manufacturer of the CT equipment, i.e. not trying to sell anything to most flashlight users.

With its simple design, the compact UltraFire S3 presents itself as a stylish EDC flashlight. Thanks to its discreet appearance and integrated laser pointer, it’s also ideal as a companion for everyday business use. Skilhunt is best known for their flashlights with magnetic charging ports. About a year ago, the EC series was introduced, which instead uses a standard USB-C port. The first model was the EC200, a compact EDC flashlight with a floody beam.

Just found out about the Kickstarter, thinking of backing it for a jack of all trades flashlight, but I’d like to hear some takes on it :) Any opinion on emitters, lack of UV filter (ZWB something, I can’t remember) and form factor? Quite expensive considering Wurkkos, but packs a lot of features.

Got this inexpensive thermal camera (which is also a multimeter!) for a review recently. Although it is not a high-end device, the resolution of 32 × 32 pixels (with high resolution camera overlay) is absolutely sufficient for many applications – and a lot of fun as well! Finally I'm able to see how my flashlights warm up.

OP reflector, FFL707A from 1800K to 6500K, LumeX1 driver with Anduril 2 but no USB-C charging this time (to minimise size I think, looks really compact).

For background, it's hard to make a flashlight that works well on both AA batteries (0.8-1.7V potential operating range) and 14500 Li-ion batteries (2.8-4.2V operating range) given that white LEDs need about 3V.

I started out in this hobby about five years ago with an Olight S2R Baton II. That was a fantastic light and I found myself purchasing more and more flashlights. It took me long enough, but now I'm truly through the deep-end. Getting into Emisar and Noctigon lights has turned me into a tint junkie, and if a light doesn't use Anduril 2, I'm no longer interested!

Now I have a use for my Sofirn C01R and that H25LR headlamp with 670nm LED's. Cool. 3 minute exposure to 670nm light in the morning apparently improves color perception for the rest of the week. I'll read more closely to find the right intensity and so on.
