Why did Europe fall in love with Will Eisner's "The Spirit" comics, whilst ignoring almost all of the superhero content of the times? MAILBOX

It's from a recent "The Spirit" revival comic, in which the Spirit is tied up, watching a Gepetto-like mad scientist create an artificial dummy of Commisioner Dolan's kidnapped daughter.

The above image jumped out to me on Pinterest of all places, in which I was simply enjoying the pleasant “LC” style. (for anyone unsure about the meaning of “LC,” please see sidebar)
